Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work stress and time management on job satisfaction among remote-working employees in East Java. The study was motivated by the growing adoption of remote work, which provides flexibility while requiring employees to independently manage work demands, work-life boundaries, and time use. A quantitative approach with purposive sampling was employed, involving 133 active employees working in full-remote or hybrid-remote arrangements, residing in East Java, aged at least 18 years, and having a minimum tenure of three months. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results showed that work stress had a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction (β = −0.166; t = 2.358; p = .019), whereas time management had a positive and significant effect (β = 0.741; t = 10.356; p < .001). The R² value of 0.653 indicates that both predictors jointly explained 65.3% of the variance in job satisfaction. These findings emphasize the importance of managing work stress and strengthening employees’ time-management capabilities to support job satisfaction in remote-working settings.
