Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of work environment and work discipline on employee performance, with job satisfaction as an intervening variable at PT Kertas Energi Mulia Jepara.. The independent variables in this study are work environment and work discipline, the dependent variable is employee performance, and the intervening variable is job satisfaction. The population and sample in this study included all employees of PT Kertas Energi Mulia Jepara, totaling 240 employees, with 150 respondents selected as the sample. This research used a quantitative method with data analysis conducted through Partial Least Squares (PLS) using SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results show that the work environment does not have a direct and significant effect on employee performance, but has a significant effect on job satisfaction. Work discipline has a positive and significant effect on both job satisfaction and employee performance. Job satisfaction also has a significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction is proven to mediate the effect of work environment and work discipline on employee performance. These findings emphasize that efforts to improve employee performance will be more effective when supported by a conducive work environment, strong discipline, and high job satisfaction.
